Abstract

Aquatic hyphomycetes accumulated in foams of whirlpools on Aras river within Erzurum province were investigated. Four sampling station were selected on the river and its branches as four for foam samples. From these stations total 41 foam samples were collected. From these samples 15 different taxa belonging to 11 genera of aquatic hyphomycetes fungi were obtained. The most common species encountered in the samples were Tetracladium marchalianum and Articulospora proliferata. In foam samples, the next common taxa were Alatospora sp., Heliscus lugdunensis, Anguillospora longissima, Anguillospora sp. 2, Anguillospora sp. 1, Lemonniera aquatica.The taxa obtained from the study were generally cosmopolitan or ones which occur cold and temperate climates.
