Abstract
As a required compound for the continuity of lifetime for the livings, water has an oriented importance on space, people and life style. The distribution of society settlements over the world emphasized the social importance of water related to the relationship of regional water tanks. The importance of water must be considered not only for the continuity of life but also for life standards and civilization levels. Transmission of water to the people settlements reflects the most important levels of civilization history. Wells were dogged through the deepest part of soil in order to find out water and in previous times water was transmitted to the settlements and to agricultural areas from the water sources and by water ways in hard conditions. The tribes lived in Anatolia which was the cradle of many civilizations since ancient times, left several traces for use of water today. There exist a lot of water structures in Edirne which has been the capital city of Ottoman Empire for approximately one century. In this study, these water structures were dealed with as aqueducts, water tanks, water ways, water cisterns and water towers. Among these, water towers in the city are analyzed. Thus, the ones that have reached today and the others which have not are established and examined. This study is aimed to constitute a data for other studies about this subject and monumental architecture.
