ABSTRACT
Two benzocoumarins and a benzochromone were synthesized starting from 2,7- dihydroxynaphthalene (2,7-DHN) and ethyl acetoacetate (EAA) in the presence of sulphuric acid solutions as condensing agent. The structures of the products have been elucidated by H NMR, 13C NMR, IR and Mass spectral methods. Increasing concentration of H₂SO4 promotes the yield of benzochromone 3 is the most important observation.
