Abstract

In this study, construction steel (St 52-3) in 4 mm thickness was welded through MIG/MAG welding method, which has a large area of usage in industry. Mixture gases used in MIG/MAG welding method are of great significance in this method. Accordingly, three different gas mixtures was chosen. The mixture gases; 80Ar+18CO2 + 2O2, 88Ar+10 CO2 +2O2, and 93Ar + 5CO2 + O2. In the joints made SG2 was chosen. After the application of the MIG/MAG welding with the chosen shielding gases, the mechanical properties of the specimen taken from the welding seam were examined. In the experiment in which three different gas mixtures and SG2 electrod was used, it was found out that the joints made with SG2 electrodes and 88Ar+10 CO2 +2O2 displayed high mechanical properties.
