Abstract

In this study, institutions within the scope of health system in Turkey are analyzed so as to provide an effective way of interoperability between all the associated units and how an IT integration should be achieved between those units. In conclusion, some recommendations regarding the necessary technical infrastructure are provided. Similar previous and current studies are examined and the positive and negative outcomes of these studies are discussed. The standards and functions used in health information systems are analyzed. In particular, it’s been analyzed in order to conclude which information technologies should be chosen and used together so that the traceability of a patient’s previous hospital visits, the diagnosis records, operations, drug treatments, examinations, and all such vital information could be supplied to the doctor accurately and quickly Thus, the physician is quickly and accurately supplied with critical information that enables rapid diagnosis and effective treatment method for the patient. In this context, this study shows us how the communications infrastructure between all the relevant institutions should be.
