Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effects of supplementary irrigation with furrow irrigation on sunflower seed yield and yield traits using TR-3080 and TR-6149 sunflower cultivars registered by Trakya Agricultural Research Institute. As a result, the water use on the growing season of sunflower plant were obtained in TR-3080 as 297 mm and in TR-6149 as 314 mm under non-irrigated conditions, these consumptions were increased to 428 mm in TR-3080 and 441 mm in TR-6149 on a single supplementary irrigation. These increases on the water uses of sunflower plant affected definitely over seed yield and the plant vegetative growth. The application time on the beginning stage of flowering in the sunflower had higher effect on the water sensitivity of the plant than other application times. The seed yield increases were measured as 38% in TR-3080 and as 32% TR-6149 sunflower cultivars comparing with non-irrigated conditions.
