ABSTRACT
The artificial environment which is depended on the modern life style is particularly insufficient for human's nature in biological meaning. In such environment the happiness and health of the people is related with the socio-economical structure and the level of the open green areas. The amount of the open green areas per one person, equipments, quality and the visual effects are the facts that determine the function of the open green areas. Open green areas should be designed by the landscape architectural principles. In this study existing open green areas of Edirne province is studied and the measures are presented due to the results. It is observed that although the amount of the open green areas is above the average of Turkey, the functional and aesthetic quality is quite poor.
